Basic Bike Mechanics

Basic Bike Mechanics session suitable for Young Guns, Junior parents, Dirt Girls, new GMBC members or anyone who's a member or friend of the club and wants to improve their bike knowledge.  The focus is on trail repairs and jobs that can be done at home.   Limited to 8 participants - $10 per session, Register online https://online.mtba.asn.au/ERegister.aspx?E=3903

9am - 12 noon at the Duck Ponds School, just inside the main entrance, You Yangs Regional Park (off Branch Rd, Lara).  Participants should bring their bikes, a repair stand if they own one, and tools including hex keys, screwdrivers, and a set of spanners.

Session 1:  Fixing flat tires and tubeless demo.  Discuss useful things to carry on the trail (multitool, tube, tire levers, patch kit, cable ties, chain breaker and quick link, tape) How to swap out a tube, how to patch a tube.  Demo pouring some Stans into a tubeless tire and  explain how it all works.  Participants will remove and install both front and rear wheels, remove and reinstall their tube from one wheel.  Glue a patch onto a tube. Check and learn about tire pressure.
